About Us

Hi, we are the Anderson family including our dog, cat, and fish, named Turtle.  We sold our Minnesota home and started our RV journey on January 5, 2011 after the blizzard blew through.  We quickly learned what life was like in the AndeRV (our first night on the road was our first night ever), how to homeschool, and to embrace life one day at a time.  (*gasp*)

Some Common Questions We Are Asked:

Why did you decide to take your family in an RV?
We were at a point in our life where God was calling us to make some big changes.  We were encouraged to experience life beyond MN for awhile, Jon needed a career change after 14 years, and the sudden loss of our brother-in-law inspired us to live for today.

How could we experience the other states...by walking...by boat...by plane?
Jon said jokingly, "How about we go see the States in an RV?"
"What a great idea!" I said.
"Seriously?" he said.
"Yes", I said.
So it was said.
Basically, amid the fear, anxiety and pure terror of this crazy idea, we decided to take a leap of faith.
How long will you be traveling?
We tell everyone a year.  We don't know how long we will make it to be quite honest.
Where are you going?  Do you have any destinations mapped out?
We are currently planning on traveling where the wind may blow our hair, eventually visiting every continental state.
We are starting down South to unfreeze our RV pipes, then off to visit some relatives, friends, strangers and the sun.
Everyone in our family wrote down their top 20 things/places they wanted to see.  They vary from the ocean, to National Parks, to where a meteor struck the earth.  We will let you know when we get there!

How did you get the name for the blog?
Grace was listening to "Dynamite" by Taio Cruz and was singing:
"I throw my hands up in the air sometimes
Soon she was jumping around singing "I throw my hair up in the air sometimes!"
Saying ay-oh, gotta let go."

We liked it because your "hair can be in the air" for many reasons.  Your hair can be in the air when in excitement you ride the roller coaster, when you are inspired by a story and it stands on end, if you are frightened like in Scooby Doo, there are so many reasons.
All emotions are here with us on this journey and written in this blog, along with a little humor.

We invite you to be a part of our new journey.  Buckle up your seat belt and put your hair in the air!  The journey has begun!
