Tampa By Boat

Photo of Tampa out the back of the boat.
I knew I would pay a price when I stayed up until 4 AM around the campfire with my wine glass.  I have been missing in the blogging world this week because I was soaking in a FOTR (Families On The Road) rally.  Before I share about that fabulous event this week, I thought I would give you a glimpse of the Tampa, FL area.

We had the opportunity to visit Tampa by boat, thanks to our friends Cheri and Eric!  We met this couple while camping last year in South Carolina where we had our Hunting Island State Park Adventures.  When they heard we were in town, they graciously invited us for an afternoon out on their beautiful boat. This was our very first time out on salt water, so it was a pretty big deal.

This mansion belongs to Derek Jeter, spanning three waterfront lots it boasts 30,875 square feet, 7 bedrooms and 9 bathrooms.

Yachts in the channel.
Three cruise ships left the harbor while we were on the water.

Rowing practice for teams from the northern states.
Jon and I can appreciate how different a harbor city looks from the water.  Our family saw dolphins, experienced floating under lift bridges, seeing the vehicles drive over us as we gazed up the grates.  We snuck through the channels, waving at the tug boats, laughing at the boat rolling over the waves.  The day was truly a gift given to us by the Scott family, we are so grateful.
